Renovation

puhala.com got a refresh. That much you can see. What you can’t see as easily is that I moved a lot of things out of the way to make room for it.

If it’s AI-related thinking or writing, it has moved. All of that now lives at the Human Traits Studio. The essays on where this technology is taking us, the more hopeful reading of the future, the book, the fiction that lets me think out loud about machines and the people who build them. It belongs together, under one roof, and that roof is no longer here. This site was starting to carry two conversations at once, and neither was served well by the crowding.

So I split them. The ideas about AI and the future went to the Studio. Everything else, for the most part, stayed. The photography. The watches. The personal commentary. The random pictures that work like a breadcrumb trail of a life. This has always been my small corner of the web, the one place I fully own and control, and that part hasn’t changed. What changed is the coat of paint and a few walls I took down.

The theme, as you’ve probably gathered, is modern minimalism. Less framing, more of the thing itself. I wanted the design to get out of the way so the photographs and the writing could sit in the open without a lot of noise around them. The Human Traits Studio shares much of this same design language on purpose. Over there the restraint is even more deliberate, because the Studio is about ideas and writing, and a flashy design would only compete with them. Two sites, one visual grammar, each pointed at what it’s actually for.

Beyond the Prompt moved too. It sits with the Studio now, where the applied work belongs alongside the thinking that feeds it. Keeping it here would have been keeping it in the wrong room.

That’s the renovation. Nothing torn down that mattered, a lot of clutter cleared, and a cleaner line drawn between the ideas and the person. If you came here for the AI writing, follow me over to the Studio. If you came for everything else, you’re already home. Pull up a chair.
